It’s Stephen Crane’s birthday week…and The Arbutus Theater of the Air is BACK on the air, as the historic Crane House hosts an encore presentation of THE RELUCTANT VOYAGERS! Inspired by young Stephen’s summers in Asbury Park, our “radio play” adaptation of the author’s most comical short story features a live cast of actors, selections from Crane’s published poetry, and lots of laughs in its tale of two vacationing city slickers who embark upon an unexpected nautical misadventure just off the Jersey Shore. Celebrate the 151st birthday of the “Red Badge of Courage” storyteller on Sunday, November 6, inside his onetime residence at 508 Fourth Avenue! The 3:00 pm program also features a screening of “Sir, I Exist!,” our recently produced video on Crane’s life and career, with doors opening at 2:30 pm, and a free-will donation taken at the door to help support the community programs of the Asbury Park Historical Society.
