Dedication of “Honeysuckle Rose House” on Atkins Ave.

In December 1928, the songwriting team of Fats Waller and Andy Razaf sat down at a rented piano in Andy’s mother’s home at 119 Atkins Avenue and wrote a song that would go on to become one of the most recorded tunes of all time. On a June 2020 date to be announced, the APHS and Asbury Park Museum join with Classic Urban Harmony LLC to recognize the West Side building where “Honeysuckle Rose” was born. A commemorative plaque will be unveiled, with an introductory talk and musical performance.
