DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”2616″ img_size=”full” css=””][vc_column_text css=””]Please join the Asbury Park Historical Society for our Annual Membership Meeting Thursday\, January 22\, at 6:30 p.m. at the Asbury Park Public Library\, located at First and Grand Avenues. \nThe Historical Society is pleased to host Jason Adolf\, PH. D. Endowed Professor of Marine Science at Monmouth University to talk about the History and Natural Life of Asbury Park’s Coastal Lakes and to share simple ways that we can help protect them. \nDr. Adolf’s research focuses on marine ecology and the challenges facing our coastal waters. Before the arrival of European settlers\, the indigenous Lanape traversed the lakes in our area\, whose tributaries at one time opened to the ocean and an abundance of sea life. Dr. Adolf’s presentation will explore the environmental conditions and mechanisms that drive changes\, and how these shifts impact the functioning of marine and aquatic ecosystems. \nLight refreshments will be provided.
